Abstrakt: V současném světě jsme svědky nemalých strukturálních rozdílů jednotlivých populací, což sebou přináší značné problémy při jejich vzájemném porovnávání. Abychom mohli s určitou mírou relevantnosti porovnávat intenzitu nejenom demografických jevů, je vhodnou metodou pro pomoc s tímto problémem právě princip standardizace, a to jak ve své přímé či nepřímé metodě. Díky standardizaci si tak můžeme udělat mnohem lepší představu o demografické situaci srovnávaných populací, a zároveň kriticky nahlížet na mnohdy nejasnou interpretaci základních demografických dat.

Abstract (EN): Standardization: Comparing comparable? In today's world we are witnessing considerable structural differences between populations, which bring serious problems to their mutual comparison. To compare the intensity of demographic phenomena with some degree of relevance, there is a principle of standardization which helps us to solve this problem, both in their direct or indirect method. Using standardization, we can create a better picture of the demographics of the compared populations, as well as a critical look at the often incorrect interpretation of the basic demographic data.
