Abstrakt: Vymezení východních Čech se měnilo nejen v průběhu doby, ale i podle toho jaký byl účel tohoto vymezení a také jak se měnily vnější podmínky a také i řádově vyšší i nižší hierarchické jednotky a jejich centra. Východní Čechy v dnešním chápání jsou ztotožňovány s územím dvou krajů – Královéhradeckého a Pardubického. Při pohledu na mapu je však patrné, že v tomto pojetí přicházejí o některé regiony, které k nim po staletí patřily.

Abstract (EN): Where does East Bohemia begin and where does it end? The definition of East Bohemia has changed not only over time, but also depending on the purpose of the definition, on changes of external conditions, as well as higher and lower hierarchical units and their centers. East Bohemia in today's understanding is identified with the territory of two regions - Hradec Králové and Pardubice. However, when looking at the map, it is clear that in this concept the regions lose some areas that have belonged to them for centuries.
