Abstrakt: Článek pojednává o problematice vody a jejího využití v semiaridních oblastech na příkladu regionu Garmian v iráckém Kurdistánu, kde autor strávil nějaký čas během geologického průzkumu pro stavbu plánované přehrady Bawanur.

Abstract (EN): Water in Semi-Arid Areas of Iraqi Kurdistan. This article deals with the issues surrounding water and water use in semi-arid areas, using the Garmian region, in the hot semiarid corner of the Iraqi Kurdistan, as an example. The author spent some time in this area working on an engineering geological survey for the planned Bawanur Dam construction.
